Located on an artificial island 280 meters from the coastline, hotel Burj Al Arab (the “arab tower” in the local language) is the world’s highest hotel at 321 meters, the same height as the Eiffel Tower, and the most luxurious, it is the only one to boast seven stars.  Its shape of a giant sail it has quickly become the emirate’s icon.  It was built in such a way that it never casts a shadow over the beach.  The heliport at the top of this hotel extends past the edges over the ocean.  Its construction, directed by the South-African company Murray& Roberts began in 1994 and its doors opened to the public on December 1st, 1999.  The Burj Al Arab has no rooms, but rather 202 double suites.  The smallest is 196 m2 and the biggest is 780 m2.  Prices vary from 1 000 $ to 6 000 $ per night.  Its entrance hall has one of the world’s largest atriums (180 meters).  The hotel owns a fleet of 10 Rolls-Royces to provide the clientele’s transportation !
