Site of Eparges : The bodies of the french writer Alain Fournier of his twenty comrades, killed in action September 22, 1914, were discovered only in 1991 after more than 70 years of an enigmatic disappearance. They are lying upside down in a mass grave excavated by the Germans (photo 215). Today, they are buried in the cemetery of the village of Saint Remy la Calonne.
