For the upcoming commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy on 6 June 1944, photo story on the twelve major sites that have marked the history of "the longest day".

Major events planned:
- June 5, Nightfall, from Utah Beach to Sword Beach: 24 fireworks are fired simultaneously to symbolize the burning of the coast and beaches.
- June 6, afternoon (time to clarify), Sword Beach, Ouistreham : International official ceremony attended by heads of states and governments.
- June 6, 5pm, Merville-Franceville : Official ceremony at the roundabout of the 9th Battalion in the presence of Prince Charles, veterans and their families, British and French authorities.
