Saint Mihiel Salient: "Trench of Thirst." Remains of the first French trench line in the Bois d'Ailly sector, 10 km from the town of St. Mihiel. From 22 to 25 May 1915, the French troops of the 172nd Infantry Regiment stand three days in the encirclement of German before being forced to surrender due to lack of water and food, and be captured . That is why it was called "Trench of Thirst."
