Hot air balloons : World record rally in Lorraine region. At mid-height
|
The Lorraine Mondial Air Ballon (24 July to 2 August 2009) is the largest international gathering of hot air balloons (the one of Albuquerque, USA, is involving mainly americans). The event is located on the airfield Chambley-Bussières (former NATO military base near Metz) and held for 20 years by Philippe Buron Pilatre (descendant of Jean-François de Rozier Pilatre, first flying man of History in 1783).
For this 11th edition, pilots and organizers have set Sunday, July 26 a new world record (photos 1 to 10) duly approved by the Judicial Officer Christopher Dzelebdzic, managing to simultaneously take off 329 balloons (the previous record was 261 in 2005).
Amoung the balloons, the one with the colors of the Disney-Pixar film, "Up".
